With February being the “love month,” this week I’m sharing five powerful ways to build your business by engaging your community. The more you positively interact with your community, the better your community reputation will become and the more your community will respond to you as a valuable community asset.

Here are five excellent ways to build positive community engagement:

  1. Understand the Needs.
    Effective community engagement begins with a sincere and genuine interest in the community. You cannot buy community support but instead must intentionally invest in your community, earn trust, and create relationships. A key to developing community support and acceptance is a genuine desire to learn and appreciate community needs, problems, and aspirations.

    Engage in honest discussions with your customers, community leaders, and non-profit leadership. Organize focus groups and use social media to obtain feedback. By actively listening to your community, you can adapt your products or services to better serve them.
